Nocturnal eats

One of the many perks of being on NPL is the fact that you get to go out at the weirdest hours at night and have a calorific meal which you then proceed to feel guilty about the very next day as you ARE supposed to be on a diet.

It's even better when you have a partner in crime who has recently completed his exams and has just as much free time as you do and can accompany you for these weird jaunts and pose in the said photographs.

Unfortunately for the older ones who read this, you will be sad to know that Al Ameen is no longer the massive store that it is and its younger, greener brother, Al Alzhar now occupies the larger store front.

Mystery meat of the day. The above delicacy is called Nasi Goreng Americano. It took us half the dish to figure out what the meat was. It was beef and coated in a reddish sauce - making it an all American dish. My brother powering on to finish the meal. This was a whooper and cost only $5.40.

If you were feeling slightly kinder to your waist line, you could always pick the less oily option of Nasi Goreng and raw vegetables. I am assuming the cucumbers and beansprout contribute to one of my 5-a-day. This came with a grand total of 1 prawn. So based on the economics of the meal, I would say go for the AMERICANO. The Americans know how to do a super sized meal.

Everyone knows where Al Alzhar is at. It is at Cheong Chin Nam Road and is 24 hours. Cute kitty pictures ahead. For some reason beyond me, the cat was oddly interested in the camera strap and kept trying to use its head to nudge the strap.

My brother in full CAT-WHISPERER mode.

All in all, a highly productive night. We managed to include food, drinks and some animal petting.
